9 days · Cultural journey
Nine days takes you beyond the western circuit into Bumthang, the district Bhutanese themselves call the spiritual heart of the kingdom. It is the difference between visiting Bhutan and beginning to know it.
The route builds gradually: Paro’s National Museum for the story, Thimphu’s Buddha Dordenma for the scale, the crane valley of Phobjikha for the quiet, then the long, beautiful drive into Bumthang. There you walk between temples founded in the seventh century and stand above Mebar Tsho, the Burning Lake, where the treasure-finder Pema Lingpa dived in holding a butter lamp and surfaced with it still alight.
The return west earns its ease. In Punakha you can raft the gentle rapids of the Mo Chhu past the dzong and visit the villages along its banks, and the final morning in Paro belongs to the Tiger’s Nest.
Land beneath the peaks and ease in gently: the National Museum in its round watchtower, then Rinpung Dzong and a first walk through Paro town.
Every departure is private. We shape the route, pace and stays around you.
