10 nights · Trek · Moderate
The Druk Path follows the old mule route that carried traders between Paro and Thimphu long before the road existed. It is Bhutan’s classic short trek: five days of ridgeline walking, five nights under canvas beside high lakes, and comfortable hotel nights either side.
The trail climbs quickly out of the Paro valley to the small ruined fortress of Jele Dzong and stays high, crossing hillsides of blue pine and dwarf rhododendron where yak herders graze their animals in season. The lakes are the heart of it: Jimilang Tsho and Simkotra Tsho sit in stone bowls near four thousand metres, and both hold snow trout.
Because the route links Bhutan’s two main valleys, the sightseeing comes built in. You visit Taktsang and the ruins of Drugyel Dzong before you walk, and Thimphu’s sights after you come down.
Two hotel nights to acclimatize. You hike to the Tiger’s Nest as training with a view, and visit Drugyel Dzong, the ruined fortress that once guarded the route to Tibet.
Every departure is private. We shape the route, pace and stays around you.
